Graham Beck MCC Brut

Biltong became popular because of its fantastic nutrient composition as compared to other snacks like potato chips, snack foods and other dried sausages found on your standard borrel plank.

Biltong is high in protein, low in carbs and is as such a great fit for any kind of dietary preference. Biltong is a super rich source of iron, which many people around the world are lacking.

The exact nutrients depend on the type of cut of meat and spices used. Here is a rough general breakdown of a 28gr serving of beef biltong:

  • Calories: 80
  • Carbs: 1 gram
  • Protein: 16 grams
  • Fat: 2 grams (more for Fatty biltong)
  • Iron: 35% of the daily value (DV)
  • Sodium: 19% of the DV

Air-dried beef is also a source of other essential nutrients like magnesium, potassium and B vitamins...

Most certainly a really good option for anyone as part of a healthy diet. Plus its tasty! 🇿🇦

⭐️ We make our biltong with the highest quality, premium beef.

🥩 It takes around 2kg of meat to make 900gr-1kg of biltong.

  • We slice the beef into thick slabs which is then spiced up and left in the fridge to marinade allowing the meat to suck up the beautiful flavours.
  • We then hang the slabs of beef up to air dry in our state of the art Biltong drying cabinet for 3-4 days.
  • Our biltong is then sliced up into thin slivers, packed and sent to you for enjoyment.

🙌 We love and prefer lekker wet biltong. If that is not your style then you can just leave the biltong out in a bowl overnight, covered with a cloth, to allow it to dry out to your own preference.

So you got yourself some beefy goodness (biltong, droëwors, chilli stox etc) and you're keeping yourself from eating it all in one go. Firstly we'd like to applaud you and secondly, good on you for reading this to see how you should store your biltong products to keep it fresher for longer.

Storing Biltong

There are no preservatives in our products so storing it is important. Be sure not to store your biltong in a closed container as it will create moisture and let your biltong mould.

  1. Keep biltong in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  2. The best way to extend the shelf life of your biltong is to freeze it. You can freeze biltong either in brown paper bag or a zip lock bag, you can also freeze it in the vacuum pack we send it in. When you want to eat some of the biltong you can take it out of the freezer and let is "breathe" for an hour or so. Biltong thaws quite quickly. Do not defrost biltong in plastic bags, always put it in a brown paper bag or in a bowl to defrost. Consume within 3 days of defrosting.
  3. We vacuum pack the biltong that we send to you, sliced or whole. It is best to remove the biltong from the plastic bags and either consume it within 3 days or freeze it. We make sure you get your biltong fresh and can not replace products that spoiled because of incorrect storage.

How long can I store biltong?

When stored correctly, biltong can last for several weeks to months. Refrigerated biltong can stay fresh for a week or so, while frozen biltong can last for up to a year. However, for the best taste and texture, we recommend consuming it within a week of opening.

Do this once you receive your order:

Please always check your package when it arrives and store your Biltong Fix products correctly to ensure you can enjoy them when you need a beef fix. We pride ourselves on sending you fresh and tasty products that will brighten your day. If you receive a package and find that your biltong is spoiled then please reach out so we can find a solution.
